Field of View
Willow Brand's light has dimmed. Lost in grief and tension, she lives in a shed with her brother, Reuben, whose coercive control has turned her world into a cage - a far cry from the sanctuary she once called home.
A new drone becomes her window to the world, offering release and a chance for real human connection. When Willow stumbles upon Reuben's most recent transgression, all fragile hope shatters. He holds truths about her too - dangerous ones - and as suspicion spirals, his manipulations tighten, bending her sense of reality.
Threatened and betrayed, Willow begins to doubt everyone. Even herself.
Will she ever find peace again... or is her mind already lost?
Emigree
The lives of two women collide as the transformative effects of the supernatural guide them towards reconciliation and open pathways to fateful retribution.
Sentient beings. Grace finds the term misguided because some people also have prescience thrust upon them. Since her assault, a pact has been made with her protective spirit, beyond, promising her glimpses of an unknown future, yet her secrets must remain hidden from all. A crushing blow was never part of the deal...
A young woman, desperate to survive, longs for another world far from her own. Having fled war-torn Budapest for Australia, Isabella's dreams of renewal abandon her.
Spanning the twenty years following World War II, set in beautiful Brisbane, and amidst the dust of rural New South Wales, Emigree explores the universality of loss and how a little magic can change lives forever.
Niche
Fearing culpability for the loss of someone close, unpredictable firecracker, Fleur Alton, resorts to ripping everything apart: family, Tripp... even herself.
She aches to possess a supernatural power that her mother, Grace, calls beyond, which often works with Nature, revealing portents to seers.
Fleur wills the 'gift' to empower her to find something deeper in life. She refuses to become shallow like her tormenting nemesis, who delights in digging away at dead things.
But beyond has its own agenda.
Caught in the liminal space between what Fleur thinks she wants and what the universe decides must be, can a magical alliance and the tears from a sage old eucalypt save her?
Will she find her niche?
Will it, ultimately, find her?
Niche is the fiery conclusion to The Crying Tree duology.
Experience Matters
I am a voracious reader and writer. Having spent years crafting suspenseful Australian tales, I bring deep psychological insight to every story. I live on the rural outskirts of the picturesque river city of Brisbane. Early retirement gave me space and time to pen three novels, both character and plot-driven. Emigree (2020) and Niche (2022) form a duology of The Crying Tree Series. These stand-alone novels blend historical fiction with magic realism, genres that intrigue me. As a former nurse, I also supervised volunteers in children's hospitals, earned a postgraduate degree in education, and taught and tutored a diverse range of students. My professional background and current volunteer role supporting people who are struggling position me well to write my latest psychological suspense thriller, Field of View, which examines people who feel they don't belong. The novel's setting mirrors a seaside resort town where I once lived and continue to visit.
I have read excerpts from my novels at bookstores, writers' workshops, and a writers' symposium. I have received writing awards, and am a proud member of both the Queensland Writers Centre, where I have attended workshops, classes and presentations, and Writers Rendezvous in Dayboro.
